Future Home?

This morning we started our String Sounds Trip to Pittsburgh, PA! We left New Concord, OH at 5:30 AM and we arrived in Pittsburgh at 7 AM. Driving into the city, we were greeted with a gorgeous view of the sunrise over the skyline. Our first stop was Bellefield Hall at the University of Pittsburgh to have an orchestra workshop. We passed the Cathedral of Learning, the tallest educational building in the Western Hemisphere along the way. We worked on our music with a professor at the University of Pittsburgh and then Alicha, Andrea, Katie, my mom, and I walked to Five Guys to get lunch.

After lunch, we went on a tour of the Nationality Rooms in the Cathedral of Learning. There are a bunch of rooms on the first and third floor that are decorated to represent the nationality that sponsored the room. Some of the rooms include the Scottish Room, the Austrian Room, The African Room, and so on. The rooms are absolutley beautiful and the main hall of the Cathedral looks like Hogwarts from Harry Potter! After viewing the rooms, we rode the elevator 36 floors to see the view from the top! The campus is so beautiful! My friend, Katie, and I are talking about applying here to go to college! [edit: I did in fact apply and attend the University of Pittsburgh for my undergraduate degree. I even had class in some of the Nationality Rooms! Also, the Cathedral prefers to be called ‘Cathy’ ;D ]

After touring the Cathedral, we went across the street to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. It was really cool! They had a lot of dinosaur bones. My friend, Andrea, and I saw a sign that said there were whales on the 5th floor, so we ran up there, only to find out that it was whales skeletons! We then realized that it would be hard to have a tank full of whales on the 5th floor…After the museum, we went to dinner at Primanti’s (where they put fries on your sandwich!). Now we are hanging out at the hotel, getting ready for bed!
